You have likely heard about Governor Dayton's executive order calling for a vote to unionize childcare providers in Minnesota. You might be asking yourself “why should I care?” Here’s why - if Governor Dayton’s unlawful order is allowed to stand, there’s nothing stopping him from trying to unionize other small business owners, or groups. In Michigan, family members caring for sick relatives have been forced into a union so the union can skim dues off of Medicare payments. If in-home childcare providers are successfully unionized, you or your industry could be next. Besides that, childcare costs will definitely increase. Other states that forced childcare providers to unionize saw childcare costs increase as much as 35% within just two years. That’s why you need to get involved! A courageous group of childcare providers announced yesterday that they were filing a lawsuit to stop Governor Dayton’s illegal unionization vote from happening. Will you stand with these independent business owners to defend their freedom as well as stop this from happening in other areas? TAKE ACTION Attend the rally at the State Capitol Rotunda this Saturday, December 3, from 12:00 – 1:00 pm. Click here for more details. If you are unable to attend the rally, you can still make a difference. Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper, send a note to your lawmakers or make a donation to help fund the childcare provider’s legal defense.
